Description:
An amazing find. This bottle is hard to age as there is very little information available on it. We have discovered that the premises mentioned was originally a pub, and Patrick McEvoy bought it in 1873 and it has been in McEvoy family ownership ever since. Today it deals in small household goods as far as we know. There are outlets around the country like the famous Dick Mack's in Dingle and Morrisseys of Abbeyleix where the old shop interior has been retained (thankfully!) and you can see the way these shops used to do their business with products such as tea or coffee held in small wooden drawers, each with the contents painted on the drawer. As per the label, P.McEvoy was a 'Tea,Wine and Spirit Merchant' and this was a bottling of their own 'Dublin Grain Whiskey. A cracking piece of Irish Whiskey history!
