Description:
Based on a time-honored Spanish method for blending sherry, this rum has been small-batch blended using the Solera method containing Bourbon, red wine and PX Sherry and finally aged for a year in an Ex Irish Peated Malt cask from The Great Northern Distillery. Thumper keg distilled.
Batch no. 3 of the Killowen Rum & Raisin will be the last of its kind before the distillery promises to move on to different editions. A handful of casks were selected from County Louth along with the cask used for Killowen Dark Rum. This cask ageing offers notes of rich molasses and tropical fruits where-as the rich PX casks provide abundant raisin and dried fruits amidst the backdrop of the famous apples and pears often found in the sourced distillate.
