Description: Back in the day, Powers would send out casks to 'wholesale bottlers' around the country who would then bottle it and sell it to their customers. This bottle comes from Joseph Cooney, who was based in Dun Laoghaire. When Powers was bottled in John's Lane it had a gold coloured label and the wholesale bottlers used a white label. Unfortunately not all Powers bottled locally was bottled at the correct time so there were 'quality issues'. It is said that when Powers stopped sending out casks and only bottled at John's Lane that they called it 'Powers Gold Label' to reflect that it was bottled (at the correct time!) at the distillery. Just to note that in terms of provenance this bottle comes from a private collection that was put together by the current owner's grandfather around 80 years ago, this bottle has been in their sole possession (and it seems ideally stored!) - until now.
PLEASE NOTE
We have taken great care to provide very clear photos of each lot. Please study these carefully before you place a bid to ensure that you are satisfied with the lot's condition.
All our lots are pre-owned so there may be some element of normal wear & tear present. If we ourselves have noted something unusual (beyond normal wear & tear) we will have mentioned it in the 'Condition' section.
We cannot be responsible for natural blemishes in the grain of wooden presentation boxes - wood is a natural product and it comes the way it comes.
