Description: This is one of the oldest bottles we've had so far, which we believe to have come from the 1930s or maybe even the 1920's. The label may have been a generic one that was first introduced/ registered in 1910. It is from the old Midleton distillery and sold by Woodford Bourne and Co who were wine and spirit merchants in both Cork and Limerick. Woodford Bourne were established in 1750 and opened their Limerick premises in 1900. This is an 8 year old whiskey which based on the time wouldn't have been as common with some other younger whiskeys being the focus before Jameson decided to add their age statements. Woodford Bourne and Co was the second largest wine and spirit merchant in the country second only to Gilbeys. Certainly a piece of Irish whiskey history. Unfortunatety the old wax seal has deteriorated over time but as can be seen in the photos the cork is intact and there are no signs of any leakage, that said due to the rarity of the bottle and the lack of the wax seal we would recommend that the winning bidder collects it rather if possible than opting for shipping.
