Description:
D.W.D. stopped distilling in 1926, and stocks were slowly wound down until the early 1940s, each year the profits from the proceeds of the whiskey sales were distributed to the remaining shareholders in the form of a small dividend, it is believed it was finally wound down in 1946. Therefore the latest this bottle would have been produced was say the early 1940s but due to the bottle size, colour, label and text on the bottle label we believe this is a much earlier bottling, from perhaps the late 1800s/ early 1900s. In really good condtion given it's age, and a really rare find! No size is given but it looks like around a half bottle or what was known back then a '1 over 2', or maybe a 'half quart' which equates to around 473ml as that size was in use at the time. Just to note that in terms of provenance this bottle comes from a private collection that was put together by the current owner's grandfather around 70-80 years ago, this bottle has been in their sole possession (and it seems ideally stored!) - until now.
